Some More About us
Nestled in the picturesque County Down countryside between Newcastle and Castlewellan is Drumee Lodge boutique B&B.
Set on two acres of beautiful gardens with stunning views of the Mourne Mountains, the house dates from around the late 1700's with the current house having been built around 1800 with a major revamp and extension in 2000. It is only 8 minutes from Newcastle Beach, Royal County Down Golf Club, Tollymore Forest Park, Murlough Nature Reserve, Castlewellan Forest Park and Dundrum Castle, and just 2 minutes from the award-winning Maghera Inn.
Drumee Lodge is where character meets elegance and each bespoke guest room is designed with your comfort in mind. Whether you are here for golf, walking, exploring or just getting away from it all, Drumee Lodge has much to offer.
This 19th Century lodge has three spacious bedrooms to rent, comprising two king-size beds and one superking. Whilst the bathrooms, which all have both a shower and a bath, are not ensuite, they are adjacent to the rooms and will not be shared with other guests. The upstairs bath is a large roll-top type freestanding bath as well as a separate shower. The downstairs bathroom includes a jacuzzi bath and separate shower.
All rooms are thoughtfully decorated and include mattress toppers as well as 400 thread count linens for extra comfort.
There is full free WiFi throughout the property and guests are welcome to access various subscription channels such as Sky (including Sky Sports), Netflix, Prime etc at no extra charge.
Weather permitting, there are numerous outdoor dining options, from our 'bistro' tables to full outdoor couches and table seating up to eight people - so plenty of room for everyone.
Also available is our gorgeous Summer House which is a real sun trap in the afternoon and evening and which is an ideal place to sip a sundowner or have an impromptu barbeque. It is fully insulated and also has a fire (electric) so it can be used all year round. It has WiFi and even a wine fridge! As you can see, we try to cover all the essentials! In the evening the gardens are festooned with fairy lights, giving it a magical feel.
We also grow some of our own vegetables and herbs and have dedicated part of our garden to a special wildflower meadow. In May it is carpeted with native bluebells and there are many other wildflowers throughout the year to attract pollinators.
Wildlife is abundant - especially the rabbits! But this year we are delighted to have Red Squirrels who have moved into some of the 54 Scots Pine trees which surround the house. You will most likely see them scampering around in the treetops or scavenging beneath the bird feeders. We can provide binoculars for those who wish to get a closer view of the many animals and 30+ species of birds we have observed here.
We have ample, safe parking and also plenty of room to dry outdoor clothes should you encounter some "soft Irish rain".
We are pleased to offer our guests a totally smoke-free and vape-free environment as there is a strict no-smoking policy throughout the house and grounds.
Even if you are not booking right away, please check out our Drumee Lodge Facebook page and our instagram posts and follow us to keep updated on the changing seasons at Drumee and avail of any special offers which may come up.
We look forward to welcoming you to our home.
